From Cute to Creepy: Three Halloween Artworks From The Gallery

I recently went to an art supply store to pick up a few basics for some art projects I’m noodling around with. I’ve learned some new drawing techniques and I wanted to get started practicing things like shading. While browsing the aisles (okay, not so much browsing as desperately shopping as quickly as possible because I had both of my young sons with me), I couldn’t help but notice the Halloween decorations that were already on display. I was a little conflicted because it was so early—it’s only August, after all—and yet, I embraced them.

Just the thought of Halloween stirs up memories of pumpkin carvings, trick-or-treat, and (deep, satisfying breath) fall. It’s one of my favorite times of year, and so I hope you don’t mind if I share a few pieces of art today that might entice you to start thinking ahead to October. After all, now is a great time to get started on any Halloween mixed-media art projects you’d like to take on, so you have plenty of time to plan and get them completed, ready to display with your fall decor.

So, without further ado, here are a few of my favorite Halloween art projects from the Cloth Paper Scissors online gallery!

Can’t you just taste the hot apple cider and pumpkin bread? I hope this little snippet of All Hallow’s Eve has you looking forward to another fall, full of new memories to be made. To celebrate our seasonal transition, check out the September/October issue of Cloth Paper Scissors, and honor Dia de los Meurtos with us. Make a tin nicho, create a festive art doll, fashion a decorative Day of the Dead necklace, see the exciting results of our Mixed-Media Skull challenge, and so much more.
