New eMag: Art journaling Exposed reader Challenge

14 Dec 2011

Brrr… here in New England, every day is a weather surprise. Until the cold really sets in, we could have sweater days or gloves, hat, scarves days. Today is at least a scarf day. I’m looking forward to our holiday shut down (Dec. 23 – Jan. 2) so that I can curl up in my favorite sweater and slippers and become a creative shut-in. It seems the perfect time to look back and look ahead.

The Sketchbook Project:
2011

It’s a great time to look at what worked and what could be improved upon. Personally, I need to approve upon my own art making. I need to work diligently at carving the time out to “make.” One of my personal projects is working on a couple of sketchbooks for The Sketchbook Project 2012 by Art House Co-op. I’m working on one sketchbook collaboratively and one on my own.

And because what’s good for the goose, is good for the gander…we decided to enter a sketchbook with Cloth Paper Scissors Readers, too! That’s right. You can end the year right by entering our new reader challenge: to be part of The Sketchbook Project 2012 and part of our new eMag Art Journaling EXPOSED at the same time!

To be part of the Art Journaling EXPOSED reader challenge you will need to send in a small art journal/sketchbook page. Here are the details:

  • 4 1/2" wide x 3 1/4" tall (these pages will become part of a rebound flag-style sketchbook to accommodate more readers!)
  • One entry per person, please.
  • theme: Stitched and folded (We’re focusing on the stitched part. Add machine stitches, or hand-stitches or faux stitching…or draw pictures of stitching, or journal about stitching…you get the idea!)
  • Fully decorate one side only. (You may add some detail to the back of the page and add any contact information you wish to give out, in the middle of the page—but some of the back will be covered in the binding process)
  • Pages must be as flat as possible. (The entire book has to be under 1" deep, so thick entries will not be considered.)
  • No art will be returned, and all entries are considered for publication, not guaranteed.
  • All art must be free of copyright (no using other people’s art in your work.)
  • All work becomes the property of Interweave and Cloth Paper Scissors, and may be published.
  • Please include a photo of your page along with your name, city, state, country, and email address (for in house purposes only!)
  • Ship your page to: Interweave/Cloth Paper Scissors “Sketchbook Project”, Boston Post Rd., Suite 15, Sudbury, MA 01776
  • All artwork should arrive between January 3 and January 16th.

We hope you’re excited to be part of this wonderful project and to be considered for our very first, and very awesome new Art Journaling EXPOSED eMag! Also note that this sketchbook will also be digitized by The Sketchbook Project and available to view online (as well as in the traveling show!)

Happy Art Journaling!

This is my second year participating in this wonderful project. I will admit that I have had it for several months and have just barely worked on it. I just finished my last final and I have all my Christmas shopping done. I can't wait to get cracking. Maybe... I'll work on a page for you project as I have never entered a challenge.  Can't wait to see the eMag...

I am disappointed that stitch is in and that it is an e book.

Hi Jenn, I was wondering how do we know if you received our page, I sent mine overnight and haven't heard from you.  Also when do we hear if we made it in the book, I hope you liked mine enough to include it:)  Kimberly Gibson

I've been watching this page for an answer to your questions, artmnky...but it appears we may never know :(

I know that you can go to the Sketchbook Project website and look; but you need to know how CPS has entered/named the collaboration this post is talking about.

I'm disappointed in the lack of communication here.
