Photo friday–a fungus among us

16 Nov 2012

Check out this little fungi! This image was captured at a county fair in the fungus collection. I got lots of other photos of mushrooms of all different shapes and sizes but this ‘thing’ really intrigued me. It was about one foot around and I really wanted to reach out and touch it—but I refrained. I could here my mom telling me, “Look with your eyes, not with your hands.” (Please tell me your mom used to say that to you, too?)

I think this image would make an intriguing toner-based photo transfer as a start of a collage. I would probably start by printing it in a low density on a laser copier so that I could still easily layer collage elements on top.

I like using images like this that are cool but unrecognizable when made larger or taken out of context. What would you do with this fungal texture? Show us by uploading a picture here!

Happy Photo Friday!

Cheers!

Love this photo, I am a fungus fan too.

Of course I always look under to check for the fairies.

You have me thinking the next printer I buy has to be a toner one. So many wonderful prompts center around that type of photo copying.

Yes, my mom told me not to touch too. This might be a close-up of a fungus, but it looks like lightly ruffled bird feathers. Looking at it with quilter's eyes, it would be a wonderful piece to cut up carefully and incorporate into a project.

Very, very cool.  I have a picture of some bright orange fungus I came across in a deep woods.  Nature never fails to totally amaze!!!!

I could here my mom telling me, “Look with your eyes, not with your hands.” (Please tell me your mom used to say that to you, too?)Diffidently, gripping my hands behind my back, so I wouldn't be tempted. I haven't noticed much of that type of behavior these years....how about you?
