Photo Friday–100 years ago

14 Dec 2012

Don’t we all dream about discovering an old bundled stack of letters like this? Whether we just want to read them, or use them in an art journal or a new collage series—the find would be monumental. At least that’s how I felt when I found this stack and brought it home to my studio.

photo Friday 100 years

Just recently I noticed the dates on these letters. The top letter is from 100 years ago! I thought this was the perfect photo for this week since everyone has been recognizing the importance of dates during this week of 12/12/12.

I’m inspired to enjoy these letters a little more . . . as just a lovely thing to look at while they await a higher repurposing. I hope looking at this photo inspires you to create something with the image, but also encourages you to go rummaging around in your stash looking for something that deserves a little spotlight of its own.

What ever you’re inspired to create, I hope you’ll share it with us by  uploading a picture here!

Happy Photo Friday!

New to this, I love the ideas provoked with these articles! I can't wait to start using some of the "junk" and stuff I've hoarded all these years - for what? How 'bout for this! Could keep me fully occupied even though I have another occupation - painting. Challenge: combining them.

I have a box full of old photographs (relatives and unknowns), postcards and wedding invitations from the early 20th century.  I'm retiring soon (3 days to go) and can't wait to get to playing with it!
