yes... i am talking to you-hooos... ;) this challenge is going to be fantastic! there will be NO PRIZES awarded from me... instead from your very own hands... after 100 days.. you will have 100 pages of art to bind into a book or artpiece of some kind... and the satisfaction that you stuck with something for 100 days... :)
now i know there have been year-long challenges of art daily...and even month-long challenges that other artists have embarked upon. well - i fall somewhere in the middle. i want to challenge myself and you, of course - to make a little art everyday for 100 days.
why? to build up our endurance to creating a project that lasts this long. to say that we did a 100-day project. to look at our finished piece and say wow... how did i do that? one day at a time, baby! ;) have you heard of the saying, "Mile by mile, life's a trial. Yard by yard, life is hard. But inch by inch, life's a cinch!"...by some wonderful anonymous person? well - that is what we will be practicing... a little art every day... for a long period of time.
rules: size must be 3" x 5" - in any orientation - (you could buy a cheap pack of 100 index cards to be your guide and base)... mixed-media, baby! stitch it, paint it, collage it...BOTH SIDES whatever your heart's desire. now - we all know that sometimes life gets in the way...and there is no way we can get to our studio to make even a little bit of art for whatever reason - if this happens to you - do not fear! you can create 2 pieces the next day... so - you can create up until the current day but you CanNOT work ahead... even "prep" work!! no no no... ;) don't even think about it...that would be cheating! :P
look - this is possible - i promise - it is 1053pm and i just made a bit of art in 5 minutes with my index card... here are my results:
make it inspiring - it is for you. remember it is a journey. and it will end after 100 days! i promise. ;)
actually - if you are just now reading this post and it is a few days later or a week or so... jump in and start your 100 days from when you are.
now posting info - post a photo every day - or clump them all together in one photo each week - it's up to you. let us know how you are doing - if you were dreading one day... if you were so psyched another.. ;) share the love, tots! ;)
my 100 days started today - july 19th. it will end october 26. oh boy... here we go!!! ;)

here's my day 2- front and back... it really helps me if i allow myself only 2-5 minutes to create it... takes the pressure off. ;) very simple designs and totally satisfying.
ARE YOU CRAZY woman? 100??? I recently finished my 30 projects in 30 days. And survived! Hmm. 3" x 5" only? Anything goes? Huh... Mmmm. Maybe I'll try............ what have I got to lose? Besides my SANITY!!!
You're ON girlfriend!
xoxo Lisa
i know. i AM CRAZY!!! ;) hehee.. but small... surely i can manage a 3x5 inch format for 100 days! ;) and you're sure to be a whiz after warming up with a marathon 30projects in 30days bit!! OH WOW!! ;) soo happy i will not be the only one embarking on this sanity... heheee..;) mucho love girl!! xoxo
end of lunch, kids running around with full bellies and more energy.... i grab a card and experiment with fire...in a safe manner of course... stitch it up a bit... voila. my day 3 - front and back. who says art can't be made when playing with fire. wanna join me?? it's a stitch! ;) xo
I think this is a great idea! I can't start right now because I am still working as a quilting teacher for 2 JoAnn stores and have lots of classes to teach this summer. But I am retiring on August 21st and I will start this project immediately after my last class. I am busy in my off time trying to reorganize my sewing room, craft room and my dyeing studio. It was going well until I got the flu last week and was down and out for 5 days. However, I am so looking forward to starting your project. I think it will get my creative juices flowing and keep me on track to start creating art. Thanks so much for the suggestion!

Looks like a great idea. Looks tempting but I am not sure if I can fit one more thing in.

I like this idea because it will get me into a habit of working everyday and seeing what the progression is over time. I have a stand of birch on my land and every Sunday, since Feb. 28, 2010, I take a picture with my digital camera. I am arranging the pictures in a slide show. Already the change in the way the trees look week-to-week is amazing. Going now to find my stack of 3"x5" cards.
hang in there, jo! ;) and have a blast running through that finish line! ;) so sorry you got the flu earlier...that is just awful. :( so happy you might try this in late august...or whenever you can find time. :) xoox
thx belinda girl. ;) totally understand... will miss seeing your results... :) xoxo
i need that habit too, withdoggy. ;) working every day purposefully - not just when inspired or for deadlines... and how beautiful about your photo of your tree. do you have a blog with pix posted of it? would love to see your work in progress. ;) looking forward to your 100days too. ;) xoxo
Hello,
Thanks Leilani for this challenge. Below are my day 1 and day 2 index cards. I am having fun playing with my materials. For day 2, i just got some new (used) inks and I had fun testing them out. ~ Sonya
Day 1
Day 2
Hi! I am new to this forum, but my friend Lisa (MrsCooz here) that I know from another group told me about this challenge. I was thinking noooooo - I have far too much going on right now. Here I am a few days later, STILL thinking about it! I have an idea about what I could do, and it involves drawing 100 faces. I could do that in 100 days. I am working through Carla Sonheim's Drawing Lab and one of the exercises is to draw 100 faces, which totally intrigues me. Only thing is they are suggested to be on 4" x 5" (not 3 x 5). Would that still count, if I join in? What do you think?
Arlene

hi arlene!! thank YOU to MRSCOOZ for sending you this way!! soo happy it tickled your ear... and you know what?! i am reading through that book, Drawing Lab, too!!! it is fantastic!! ;) you could totally do your 100 faces in 100 days! ;) and you know... i was going to say this too to everyone - but any small format that works for you, works for me! ;) (i'll post a separate line about this)... whooohoooo can't wait to see your faces! :) xoxo
