So, after going through several books for inspiration, I came up with the idea of something simple but with good/new material. Also, BFF (Best Friend Forever) was a well know phrase and got the point across, I thought to come up with my own acronym! VFF (Valentine Friend Forever!) Be my VFF was born!

Used free motion stitching, hand and crewel stitches to put it all together! This is just the face of the card...I selected a few statements for the inside of the card, this one says on the inside "You are amazing and I'm so glad we're friends", also stitched and embellished. More can be seen at www.artfire.com/users/jemarts search for VFF.

The Cat Tells the Three Bears - Now Goldilocks is a Naughty Girl

This series was great fun to make. I had old children's books, modern scrap book papers, cats drawn onto calico and my sewing machine. I chose the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

The cat retells the story and has been embroidered. All the images from the books have been hand cut, also the wording. I've then sewn these onto the new scrap book papers. I used a variety of machine stitches and free style sewing. Each scene is on different paper, different colours and the cat changes too, a bit of Alice in wonderland crept in here.

Another example of this lovely story.

year. When I returned from the trip, I assembled the fibers and yarns, added a
special stick that wanted to be a part of the project (!) and beads. Then I used
another mini collage with tea bags and paper and fabric I'd painted earlier this
year, stitched it all together and attached it to a canvas I textured and
painted. I love stitching fiber art onto canvas - this one is attached with a
few beads.

Talisman is a fiber piece stitched onto a recycled canvas that is 9.5 inches square by 1.15 inches deep.

This is a journal I made using papers and fabrics I painted in January, February
and March of this year. I started stitching bits and pieces together in April
and May - enjoying the organic process of playing with each painted tidbit and
stitching them with one of my favorite things: used tea bags. I simply made mini
collages, not sure of where they would lead me. Throughout this time period, I
was going through some spiritual searching - wondering why I'm here on earth,
what I'm meant to do, what life is all about. Deep stuff that is made accessible
when I can incorporate my thoughts into artwork! In June I decided the mini
collages I'd been assembling were meant to be a book, so I added stamped and
handwritten words to each page. I assembled the book and stitched another
favorite item - fabulous fibers and yarns - to the outside. It is a wonderful
piece of art that documents my life journey artistically and spiritually during
the first few months of the year.
