Paperology: The Art of the Pop-Up

pop-up

Debi Adams likes creatively challenging herself. This layered pop-up card fit the bill. Gesso and a variety of chalk finish and acrylic paints give it its rustic, rusty look—the perfectly imperfect look Debi was going for. See this unique foldable 3-D card in the January/February 2018 issue of Cloth Paper Scissors. Here are a measuring template and a photo of the folded pieces to assist you in creating your own colorful pop-up card.

Measure and mark 1″ in on either short end of the 5″ x 11″ piece of watercolor paper. (This can also be done with a stylus and ruler.) Repeat at 1¼”, 1½”, 1¾” and at 2″. Do the same on the other side. Accuracy is important.
All of the pieces are carefully scored on the lines.

Challenge yourself to make this unique pop-up card. See the complete instructions in the January/February 2018 issue.
