Book Fusion!

Earlier this year I took a coptic book binding class @ the Robert C. Williams paper museum in Atlanta.  Naturally, once I came home, I wanted to create more, and was wondering what would happen if I used plastic grocery bags……This is the result! I fused plastic grocery bags together, painted them, added some butterflies punched from my own marbleized paper, and then did some free motion stitching on it. It was rather difficult to do the binding, since the books was soft, as opposed to the traditional hard back books {it was hard to get the right tension with the sewing}. BUT it finally came together & now I have a new art book waiting to be filled!

  1. Did you have any trouble with the acrylic paint flaking off?  I followed the directions for fusing bags and painting them in a back issue of CPS but my paint is now flaking off. Any ideas on sealing it? Anyone? Thanks!
