Six years ago, my life was turned upside down by a car accident. I found myself with a broken brain, a victim mentality and a sick heart. The journey back to life has been a long and difficult one. There were many days that I thought life could never return to normal. I found healing when I was finally able to embrace beauty in the every day. As I began to focus on the beauty all around me, the pain, hurt and disillusionment started to fall away. My art has become a place for me to embrace beauty and share it with everyone around me.
This is an original piece titled “Embrace Beauty” on an 11 x 14 stretched gallery canvas. I used acrylic paint, handmade papers, vintage wallpaper, vintage book pages, paint store swatches, handwritten vintage letters (written by my grandmother and grandfather), clothing patterns, water color crayons, India ink, and printed out letters. I love using found objects to create textures in my paintings. I choose vibrant and bright color schemes for all of my pieces
