Her Idea of Beauty

A shapely dress form can be considered an idea of beauty. It is the representation of a female form and it stays forever lovely even when it's grown old. This art piece is based on this idea. It is the image of a dress form had drawn onto tissue paper and attached to a vintage image (from The Graphics Fairy). The lines of the form are painted in and a wash of white paint is added which accents the wrinkles the tissue paper makes when glued. The background is a freehand cut wooden house with many layers added. Layers of collaged book pages, various paint techniques I've come up with as well as some antiquing techniques I've been playing with.  Once my paint layers have dried and been aged, I added antique gold wax to the edges to pick up the texture of the paint. I then glued the dress form piece to the background and added embellishments; the old Carheart snap with the shape of the heart over the ***, the old rusty metal piece with old costume jewelry and twine. Finally I made a hanger out of an old tattered pearl necklace and a very rusty old pully.
