i thought about the way it takes a village to raise a child…and realized that deep down inside, we all long for community, a place to belong to and be cherished; a village of our own.

this photo shows a one-of-a-kind original mixed media clay village utilizing encaustic wax. tiny hand-formed clay houses (from 1 1/2” high to approximately 2 1/4” high) are collaged with various kinds of ephemera and layered with encaustic medium. these are small and fit in the palm of your hand. tabletop display recommended.
