In Vitro #5 is the continued exploration of beauty that is invisible to the naked eye. I’m fascinated by microscopic imagery, and this piece is an imaginative interpretation of imagery I would love to encounter in the lens of a microscope.
Cotton broadcloth and silk organza was hand-dyed and screen-printed with personal imagery by the artist. Surface elements were fused and appliquéd with monofilament thread. Machine quilted using unmarked free-motion technique. Screen-printing accomplished with discharge paste and acrylic textile paint.
