Approaching evening over the marsh

I wet felted a piece of navy blue wool fabric for the substrate, and I needle felted the picture in layers. I created cookie cutter type daisy shapes out of an empty pop can to felt some of the flowers. The leaves are pieces of Dupioni silk, the nest is made of linen yarn, and the cloud formations are silver coloured silk roving. The birds are wood block printed onto cotton rag paper and are attached with embroidery which I also used to embellish some of the flowers.

I hope you like it!

  1. I like the use of many materials and the dupion silk leaves are lovely.  There is a lot of happy ‘movement’ in the background felting and the flowers are really cheerful.
