autumn

I enjoy the organic nature of patterns I generate in discharged fabric, so I added autumn leaves created using silk threads sandwiched between soluble stabilizer and heavily stitched on my machine. Silk sari threads add rich colour and texture, couched in a loose looping diagonal, and in a rough flower beaded with contrasting purple. I added a tiny branch with chain stitch and French knots along with hand dyed leaves. Further beading using glass and wood, and the addition of wire spirals combine to make a pleasing rustic picture that reflects my favourite time of the year. Even if I’m not a finalist, I love this piece!
