  1. Oh my goodness, this is amazing!  How on earth did you discover plumber’s tape as a potential medium?  What a fascinating surface.  Thank you for sharing.

  2. I’ve never used plumber’s tape. What great effects you’ve achieved! I see a trip to the hardware store plumbing dept. in my future:) Beautiful piece.

  3. Thank you. I used to use aluminum foil for engraving this way. Then I had a class with Karen Michel at Artfest several years ago, and she was using plumber’s tape to achieve the same effect. It’s much more durable, and the adhesive is so sticky that you never have to worry about it delaminating from the substrate. The copper tape I use is commonly known here in the Pacific Northwest as “slug tape” because some gardeners use it to create barriers to keep slugs out of planting beds and flower pots.

  4. I just love to see how other artists use unusual materials to create magic. I will now have to make a trip to the hardware store for some plumbers tape! How fun and what a beautiful result!
