It’s a New ME!

I created a fabric collage on a machine quilted muslin background. Appliqued shapes are embellished with eyelets and brads. Decorative metal swirls are repeated in black marker shapes in the background which is enhanced with colored pencils. Ribbon accents are repeated throughout the design and in the twisted bias tape binding.

The title reflects my new life as a retired art teacher. After 27 years of teaching middle school students art,  I am delighted to be recreating myself as an artist. Self portraits were always a part of my curriculum and it is great fun to actually create one!

  1. I smile when I see it.  It’s a happy, fun piece with vibrant color and wonderful textures.  Congrats on your second career as an artist now creating art for yourself.
