Jody Dufresne’s "Mother Earth" Art Doll

Jody Dufresne
Sante Fe, NM

“My doll is a papier-mâché mannequin, with a turquoise necklace. I used wooden arms from an old doll and a ceramic metal face that I "framed" with rusty chicken wire and paper flowers. I designed and sewed her vest and free-motion stitched in a variety of stitches and threads. Her skirt is made from muslin; the pictures were transferred with t-shirt transfers and then sewn. I incorporated bird nest bits and pieces of silk, netting, yarn, small eggs, and dyed cheesecloth.”
