"Love Your Mother"

“I just couldn't make a doll that claimed to be Mother Earth unless I included at least some recycled materials. After all, recycling is what we all need to do to save our Mother. This gal is made from an old glass bottle and she is wearing a dress made from multi-colored can tabs hand sewn to a piece of unbleached muslin with fringy yarn. I drew a face, scanned it into my computer, and printed it out on white cotton fabric for her head. I colored her face with ink markers and sewed it to another round piece of fabric with stuffing in between. I fastened her head to the cork in the bottle with wire and gave her some coiled wire arms. Her hair is made from an old scarf I found at a thrift store, and her crown is made of gold trim and rhinestones. The earth is made from a round Styrofoam® ball painted with Lumiere® paints and Stickles™ glitter glue, and then stuck to the end of a stick. “
