Encaustic defines my existence these days, and makes me smile and relax. I feel alive and inspired and positive. Being on such a huge learning curve really makes me the happiest of all the things i do in my life … when i am learning I am on an adventure. There is endless possibility with encaustic.
I fire up the griddles each morning and can't wait to work. My submission to this Reader Challenge is one of several i worked on and i think this one finally captures me the best, for the moment anyway. I had an oversight with the size and had to rework at 6×6. I sometimes forget to read the fine print! I work in encaustic primarily now, and there's so much buried treasure in the mixing of my media, we never know what might end up in the beeswax. This one has buried rivets to make the bumpy surface. The bright blue background is Kama encaustic paint from Canada. Such a rich blue! And I am always one to have red lips! Those might be little cupcakes too… It's always my birthday in my studio!
