"Montana Treasure" — my first art quilt! Depicts the colors, seasons and feelings that living in Montana evokes for me personally. Known as the Treasure State, Montana is a land not just of gold, silver, copper and sapphires, but of our stunning. Rocky Mountains to glowing prairies of rich wheat fields, as big as the blue skies, and sparkling rivers and simple rural living. Some leftover patchwork, silver foil leaf, paintstiks, ribbons, yarns, beads, button, couching and lots of bobbin thread play and quilting add to the texture — all done free motion style (even the beading!) – with exception of button bead and one other large bead. This is my artistic expression in a textural interpretation done in stitching of what a treasure Montana is to me. Even the curvy binding reflects the outline of the state geographically.
