Printer Paper Rose

The rose is from our February Challenge of hearts or roses.  I took regular 8.5”” by 11” printer paper and painted two separate sheets- one in pink tones and one in greens.  I then crinkled and crinkled and crinkled the paper until it had a fabric-like affect.  I made clear templates of my motif so I could fussy-cut the rose out for proper color/shading.  This was adhered to a plain fabric (Fuchsia color for the rose and green for the leaves).  The rose was hand-quilted onto a velvet background completed with echo quilting.
