This is a handmade journal for my trip to Spain. The basic journal is composed of security envelopes, old book pages, plastic sleeves, and many other paper pieces of which to write and save paper items on my trip. For the cover I scanned a drawing I did from the Velazquez painting, "Las Meninas". After printing the picture on fabric sheets, I stitched the piece onto a quilted backing. I finished the piece by free motion quilting and hand sewn stitches. I sewed the fabric cover in a pocket fashion and inserted the book into its cover. I used the book as a travel diary and a way to contain all the bits of paper I collect when I travel. I also used post cards as an element of journaling in this book.
