A collage/mixed media painting on canvas composed of painted fiber paper, batik fabrics, various handmade papers and acrylics and inks, measures 18 x 24 inches. I used matte gel medium to adhere the background fiber paper, painted it in tints of violet and blue and then adhered the other elements on top of the background followed by matte varnish coats. It was during the end of this past spring that a brief, freak snowstorm hit New York City. When I looked out of my studio window, the sky was a momentary blaze of darkness and light, full of streaks of bright colors before the snow fell. This image captures that moment for me of the eruption of the stormy sky.
