All three of my mixed media stitch pieces were inspired by the repeating patterns of Zentangles (to which I am addicted) and incorporating the beautiful, rich colors of sari ribbons and yarns. I stitched the ribbons and yarns on using the zig zag stitch on my sewing machine and embellished the pieces as detailed below. Each piece is stretched over a piece of plywood lined with cotton batting and placed into a wooden frame I painted with acrylic paints. The corners of each frame have tiles attached that were made from polymer clay and beads.
The bird's beak and eye are buttons I made out of polymer clay. The sun was painted with Golden acrylics, Tulip fabric paint, and Amoco Rub n Buff.
