"This Woman’s Work"

I created this piece using original photography and drawings of mine, cut out and overlapped to create depth. I also wanted a sense of depth by having the cutouts lean off the surface and also surrounded by trees I made from dried stems and flowers. To create a gossamer glimmer I added crushed glass and mosaic tiles around the images as well as gels to the pictures. To indicate the various thoughts and struggles inside the figure's mind I placed strands of string in between two halves of her face. Infused in the rope are small snapshots of various themes.  The edges of the canvas are wrapped in handmade paper on the right to represent the natural otherworldly feel of this side, and machined metal covered in plaster and bronze metallic paint on the left.
