Traveler’s Map

I began this piece by felting two lotus seed pods. I used antique lace and material. The horizontal material you see on the bottom is a palm stem which holds peacock feathers, two items which are very familiar to the area I live. Hand embroidery was used to create a patten  which mimics roads. I also used bits of wood and a steel wool sponge for texture and depth. The gauze is to create a transparent effect. I used raw wool and tightly spun it to create the effect of grape like texture.
