TWO STORY HOUSE 6 x5 x1
Originally intended fot the mini book challenge I misread the one for a ten and missed the deadline – So
This little book was inspired by a verse and a desire to do one piece that incorporated two books. The base for the book is a peper mache techniquee that was painteed, antiqued and highlighted over the hand cut mat framework. The front has a hand burnt and hand dued muslin over lays – I wanted it to look as if it was an old wall with disintegrating plaster. A cross on the front speaks of its content. it is a prayer and praise house.
The whole piece was designed to be disassembled to yield two books – one on the bottom (the first story and one in the roof (the second story).
The top book is a star book meant to be a place for thanks to be written.
The lower book is a plain coptic bound book with a flap that wraps around to meet the back of the house. Inside this book are popups with words – in moments – in four sections. Below these popups are groupings of three diamond folds that contain scriptures and also pop up and out. Along the sides of each sections are definitions of the key word for eeach section. Between the black pop up sections are white pages for journaling or drawing. Other details on detail photos..
