"Book of Earthly Delight" was cut and carved out of an old tome that I found in the 'free stacks' at the Brookline library. I was thinking about planting real foliage in the book but ended up cutting up the pages and dipping the leaves in encaustic medium and inserting them among the pages. The pink bloom is made out of Chinese toothpicks, the ones with the square head, also dipped in encaustic medium. The idea is that I am literally surrounded by so many books in my home, they seem to be growing around me. My library grows –there are even books in my bed!
