I saw the artist, Alma de la Melena Cox, on the public broadcasting show Oregon Artbeat. She was enthusiastically demonstrating a technique she called Collage Fusion. I love fabric pattens but don't sew. This project allowed me to combine all of my favorite things: wood burning, painting, design and fabric. After watching the show I tracked down her book: Collage Fusion. The process can be done on paper and without the wood burning but I love the effect. It can be done in steps so if Im working on more than one piece I can paint on one, wood burn on another and draw patterns for yet another piece allowing me to jump around while still having the satisfaction of staying focused on one type of project.
