On canvas. Gesso is first layer. The center piece is done with a technique that my 10-year old girlfriend, neighbor, and art buddy showed me–with acrylic paints and an etching tool. It is layered on a piece of paper that I used the plastic wrap technique on (learned from CPS recently). I added a couple of cutouts from my doodle art for interest. The outside corners have pieces cut from paper I marbled. Then I just dabbed on paint (or is it daubed?) over the extra gesso that I just added to add more color to the piece. It was fun to create.
