This piece was created based on a sketch from my art journal. It is created with various scrapbook papers that have been embellished with metallic inks, paint, and acrylic buttons that reflect the bird and butterflies theme. I have added words in metallic ink (from my original journal) to the dark brown paper at the left side of the piece. The bird drawing on the front is an original work in suspended pastels (pastels over an acrylic underlay) that has been cut out and affixed to a frame and background of art papers and embellished with three dimensional stickers of dogwood blossoms. The mat that surrounds the work was created by spray painting a forest green matte with hammered copper spray paint in order to achieve the look of copper patina.
The finished piece is framed in a tortoise shell frame with gold accents and measures 17.5 x 15.5 inches.

This was a LOT of fun to create and the bright, summery colors have warmed up my studio.
