Mixed Media Collage. Starting with an archival print of my watercolor of Adirondack chair. Printed paper squares added and embellished with brass brads. Oil and acrylic paints applied to fill in space and accent chair. Acrylic paint rolled over netting to create texture. Pearlized dauber used to add accent dots.

Realistic Choices

This piece was inspired by a vintage book I found at a thrift store concerning women and health.  I found the wording and differences between now and then fascinating and started to make a series of collage pieces.  This is one of them.

Swatton, Orange Cruciform

_Orange Cruciform_ is a 20"X16" mixed-media collage.   Using acrylic paints, I covered watercolor paper with successive glazes of warm colors, orange-dominant.  After that dried, I added a layer of cool greens and blues; quickly, while this layer was still wet, I splashed the surface with rubbing alcohol.  Next I added more texture using several homemade stamps…

Mixed Media Bird Houses

Bird houses made using paper mache forms that have been layered in ephemera, maps and vintage sheet music. Once layered, the houses are painted with a thin wash and/or distressed using distressing inks and alcohol inks.
