This piece was created using an old jewelry box. I stripped it, removed the glass, covered it in sewing paper, hand painted butterflies and other bugs on the exterior and filled the inside with natural moss, paper butterflies, handmade paperclay toadstools and ladybirds, and acorns and other natural goodies. A ring of mushrooms is sometimes called a 'Fairy Ring" and it is believed that should you step into this ring you may be whisked away to faerieland! This shrine is made from a recycled drawer. All of the houses, ladybugs, mushrooms, toadstools and the moon are handmade from paper clay.
I used basic dollar store supplies to create a shadowbox type mixed media piece of a woman sitting with her back to us on the window sill with her shadow being cast on the roll down blind depending on the light direction. I had a lot of fun creating this piece. Hope you enjoy it…
