Postcard from Penzance

Penzance is a seaside town in Cornwall, England, and it's famous for its pasties (pastry filled with meat and vegetables) often eaten by tourists as they sit on benches admiring the view.  Seagulls have become a nuisance because people fed them but they no longer wait to be offered bits of food – they swoop…

All Is Well

This little piece combines my three favorite things – wool, wire, and words; i created it for the Felted Wonders Reader Challenge. The Jacob sheep from our farm provide the wool for my felt collages, and I love combining the wool with beads, buttons, and wire.  For this collage, the needle felted circle is stitched…

"Puppy Love"

A needle felted portrait of a girl who is totally in love with her sweet puppy. This peace is done free hand on a wool mat. Shetland and Merino wool fibers were used to create this art work.

Miss "My Opinion" was made by "felting" fabric onto fabric and wool roving for the hair and blouse on my 7 needle embellisher. The image was then handsewn appliqued onto paper fabric and bordered with paper sewn on by machine. The lettering is also paper sewn by machine.

Wool and wire landscape

The foundation for the landscape was wet felted with wool roving.  The details of the burro, mountains, trees and scrubs were added by needle felting.  Wire was stitched into or affixed onto the wool.  This  scene was inspired by a recent trip to the  Red Rock Conservation Area where I encountered several burros  snacking on…
