“My life is a beach. I was born only yards from the crashing surf in northern California, and have spent a lifetime near or on the beach. I feel the most comfortable in my skin when I am within the sound of the surf, fog horns, and bell buoys. A day at the beach flying a kite was my inspiration for this piece. Kites need to soar, so I let mine fly right off the edge of the canvas.

“My collage was created on a canvas covered with gesso, then layered with gel medium and collaged with free artist papers, images from Artchix Studio, and seashells and rusty bits of wire I picked up while beachcombing.”
