Mixed-media artist, designer, and home builder Holly Berube puts a distinct stamp on her studio, which stands out among her neighbors in the Western Avenue studios building in Lowell, Massachusetts. Adjacent to her studio (pictured in the Spring 2010 issue of Cloth Paper Scissors Studios) is a show space that she can rearrange to display her creations during open studios events.
“The coral wall is a temporary wall I added; I have all my artwork hanging on each side. You can only see one piece, which is a Maine scene I framed in driftwood. I made everything in the room and set it up to look like a real bedroom. I made the headboard and side table out of driftwood, the quilt and pillows, and several ocean-inspired sundresses are on display. In the photo you can see one child’s sundress, and some jewelry scattered around,” says Holly.

“This is a photo that was shot looking into a mirror I made. It reflects toward the bed, and it highlights a driftwood vase and candelabra I made from shells. Again you can see more jewelry. The bureau is a recycled piece I did a crackle finish on and it has driftwood knobs.”
