Last summer a good friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer. As she is young and the mother of two little girls, my heart ached for her and her family. From the encouragement of another shared friend of ours, I hosted a heart-warming party to create notes of love and encouragement for each day between her chemo treatments.
I had been holding onto a small wooden audio cassette holder that I had found at the thrift store; I knew at once that it would be the perfect place to house these treasured words for her. A good number of close friends showed up at the party and dove into my stash of papers, fabrics, and trims to create the love notes we hoped might help her through her journey.
January 4th marked the last day of her chemo treatments, and we are praying for continued healing and recovery. An art piece born out of sadness and hope is understood by many of us. It is my hope that others will share their artistic passions in encouraging other loved-ones during times of difficulty; even if it begins with only a small handwritten note.
