Susan Andrews and Carolyn Fellman (aka The Oiseaux Sisters) always have their bags packed—and recently they flew down to Oaxaca, Mexico, to enjoy the colorful and creative community there. The artists describe their journey (and the ensuing art) in the July/August issue of Cloth Paper Scissors, and they recommend the following websites for you to learn more about Oaxaca and its arts community.
www.oaxacacalendar.com
Margaret Barclay, who works with the Oaxaca Lending Library, puts out a very comprehensive calendar of what’s happening in Oaxaca (arts and non-arts events) here.

All of the museums in Oaxaca have websites, however most of them are in Spanish. This site has the most comprehensive list of the museums in Oaxaca we’ve seen.
www.go-oaxaca.com/sights/museums.html
While this site is not exhaustive, it does include some images in its descriptions.
translate.google.com/translate_t
This site provides a very handy way to quickly translate from one language to another. But beware—sometimes the translation is completely nonsensical! However, it does give the gist of the meaning. Sometimes we copy the text of a foreign website and paste it into the translation box to reveal the information in English. This translation tool can also help you look up something you want to say in another language.
You can read Susan and Carolyn’s entire article in the July/August 2009 issue.
