Arnie the pirate parrot is actually a rainbow lorikeet that I made as part of an ongoing series of machine felted birds for exhibition. He had so much personality that he insisted he needed 'special treatment' and he now guards my studio. His body was made from machine felted fabric using a process I developed to get accurate colouring on the birds. I got into bird making after purchasing Abigail Patner Glassenberg's 'the artful bird' from Interweave. 'Arnie's" name is a play on a brand of biscuits in Australia called Arnotts who have another sort of parrot as their logo. It could be one of their Salada biscuits he's enjoying.
