Ronni Hunter’s "Mother Earth" Art Doll

Ronni Hunter

“My doll is made of a freestyle patchwork fabric in shades of brown that was machine quilted in spiral patterns. The fabrics represent the shades of earth. Her body is covered with hand-embroidered flowers, and glued-on appliqués of butterflies and fish to represent the flora and fauna of the earth. Her breasts are yo-yos made of pink silk. Strips of blue silk and silver threads with snowflakes make up her hair to represent water and snow. The gold spiral of her eye is representative of both the precious metals of the earth and the cycle of life. She is posed to be dynamic, flirty, and joyous.”
