"Montana Treasure" — my first art quilt! Depicts the colors, seasons and feelings that living in Montana evoke for me personally. I am a Montana native, and my grandparents homesteaded in the prairies and in the mountains on both sides of the family. Montana — known as the Treasure State, Montana is a land not just of gold, silver, copper and sapphires, but of our stunning. Rocky Mountains and glowing prairies of rich wheat fields, to the 'beyond big' blue skies, sparkling rivers and simple rural living. Some leftover patchwork, add a bit of silver foil leaf, have fun with a little paintstik, don't forget the beautiful yarns, ribbons, cording, beads… oh my!! Oh yeah, gotta add a fabulous "BIG" button, and lots of bobbin play and quilting to boot! Texture, Color… more Texture! All done free motion style (even the beading!). This is my landscape-impressionistic interpretation in color, cloth and stitch of what a treasure Montana is! Even the curvy binding reflects the outline of the state geographically.
