Impressions of Spring

I started with a piece of cloth and painted it with gesso. When dry, i sanded the gesso.I Then I created a large stencil and stenciled the yellow flower. I painted the rest of the pieces in multiple colors. I made 2 other sizes and used them to create the smaller flowers, one which I…

I will meet you in the garden

My piece, i will meet you in the garden, was started with a ripped paper collage of blue green and gold paper. Then I painted navy blue over a mask made from the flower stencil provided. The sky of the picture is filled with golden eyes drawn with marker and accents sewn into the paper.…

Twilight Flight

A Global Garden

“A Global Garden” was created in the spirit of international sisterhood—for ourselves and our planet.  Six kokeshi/matryoshka-inspired type cloth dolls smile at the world in a display of international friendship and creativity. I used pencil to draw the doll shapes on unbleached muslin. Using Lumiere paints (first discovered at Create! in Chicago at Melanie Testa’s…

How My Garden Grows

Trying to avoid getting carried away while creating this, I decided to err on the side of simplicity….less is more sort of thing. The large flowers are cut from recycled beer cans…the other flowers are watercolored or ink colored…except for the musical flowers which were cut from "photo-layered" paper I created by in my printer.…
